Luxury Hotel in Aruba in October?
Sundance1 asked:
Hi everyone,
I need help choosing a hotel in Aruba. My brother is getting married there in October. He and his fiancé have been there and are having their wedding at the Divi Aruba. I have never been there – so I am torn as to where to stay. He likes the more Americanized atmosphere – where I like more authentic eateries and what have you. So he is fine doing an all-inclusive at the resort and eating the bad resort food…where I would opt for more traditional, whole in the wall places over that any day of the week…hope that makes sense??
I’m not a snob – I can just appreciate authentic food more than him. So I am trying to find a luxury hotel in Aruba – not all-inclusive.
Any suggestions? BTW – I’m 30 and my boyfriend is 42. He is leaving the planning up to me since it is my brother’s wedding.
Help!! Any suggestions are welcomed… (and restaurant suggestions too)
Thanks!
Or what hotel is better - Hyatt or Renaissance Aruba?

Well, the Divi is kinda off by itself so if you don’t stay there you’ll have to have transportation to do things together. It is a very nice resort. If you want to stay somewhat close to them, you’ll need to stick with the “American” hotel area. Prices are higher in the eateries and you generally have the same fare as we do here…Hooters, Pizza Hut, Benihana & so on.
I’m with you, I don’t like to be stuck in a rut and eat bad hotel food because I took the all inclusive.
If you really want to experience more Arubian lifestyles & food, I would suggest the Renaissance in downtown Orajestad. There you can walk to all the Dutch and Arubian resturaunt that are frequented by the locals. Try:
El Gaucho-steak…after dinner cross the street to the best nightclub Garufa
Matilde-misc.
there are several in and around the Seaport Marina (where the hotel is located)
BBQ55
You will find the most authentic food on the other side of the island:
Coco Beach-misc fare, spend the day at Baby’s beach and have a late lunch at this place.
Costa Riba-steak, shrimp, chops-reasonable $
Flying Fishbone-very romantic, feet in the sand, candlelight, make resevations for this one.
Brisas del Mar.

Hi I spent 2 months in Aruba and stayed at the Aruba Grand very nice. It’s right on the beach and has alot of activites and is close to town. The weather is great there year around Oct.-Dec. low 90’s but windy. If you get a chance go to the LaPeite right on the main shopping area and eat a steak on the stone. It is tasty. Carlos and Charlis is a fun place to hang out. If you are shopping for any jewlery check out Kays Jewelry. I have some very nice diamonds from there at very reasonable prices. Just haggle with them. Overall, Aruba is my favorite place to vacation. We have gone there twice by cruise ship and once by flight. Check out they have alot of info. and actually webcam picture. Hope your trip is as wonderful as ours have been and congrad. to your brother.

I am from Aruba, but have lived the last 10 years in Chicago. I would suggest The Renaisance Hotel Downtown, Marriotte or the Hyatt Hyatt is VERY CLASSY!

I just got back from getting married at the Radisson and I LOVED it there! It is honestly the prettiest resort there, we looked at the Hyatt and Marriotts as well. The Radisson has beautiful landscape, nice pools and a clean long beach front.
The rooms are also very nice. (we stayed in a suite, but the reg rooms looked nice too.)
It’s close in walking distance to a lot of great restaurants as well! If you have any more questions, feel free to email me. We had a great time and I’m like you… i didn’t want all inclusive b/c one of the best things to do in Aruba is go to all their amazing restaurants! If you want any suggestions on where to dine as well I have plenty of suggestions!!
El Gaucho- Steak.. amazing!!
Flying Fishbone- Good food, great romantic atmosphere
Aqua Grill- Great for seafood
Cuba’s Cooking- Fun! Great mojitos. Good food. Entertainment is fun
La Trattoria el Faro Blanco (Lighthouse)- we had our rehearsal dinner here. Amazing view of sunset. Food was good. Very pretty.
Italian restaurant (can’t remember name) right across from the Radisson- EXCELLENT Italian food! Best i’ve had in a long time and I’m italian and picky!
Good luck!

The Hyatt is on Palm beach with many other hotels and is very very nice. The have a great pool. The Renaissance is downtown near the high class shops such as Gucci and across the street from beach. If I was going to chose I would say the Hyatt but they are both VERY nice. As far as restaurants, I heard Madam Jennets was great but you have to make reservations weeks ahead. I stayed at the Westin and that was very nice too.
