I recently stayed at the Marriott. It is a nice place but not as expensive as the other places in Wailea. Most hotels there are very upscale and very expensive. The Marriott is walking distance from the Four Seasons where my fiance and I went to have an occasional drink. We saw so many celebrities, it was a lot of fun.

I would suggest staying in a vacation rental from a site like www . vrbo . com. Since it'll be a "last minute" booking, you should be able to negotiate a great deal. The hotels/resorts in Wailea are really pricey. If you would like a resort, though, The Maui Prince in Makena, just south of Wailea, is pretty nice and has a great beach.
