Should the NFL build a stadium/Headquarters in a neutral site for the Super Bowl and Conference Championships?

Jaws67 asked:

Here is a thought: The NFL should build a “Super Bowl City”

Build a stadium inside of a massive hotel and office complex.

Make it seat 150,000 in luxury boxes.

Use this as there headquarters for the draft, main offices, NFL network , all owners and league meetings, the combine…

Play both the Conference Championships, BCS Championship game, Super Bowl and Pro-Bowl there.

Looking for discounted, cheap, cocalo sugar plum crib sets?

NO! who is going to pay for that!?! my NFL subscription is already overrated and expensive as it is, i don’t need it going any higher.

My friends and colleagues have always said that they should build a world-class stadium in LAS VEGAS NEVADA. It’s neutral, the weather is usually sunny and mild in late January / early February, and you could build it an hour outside the city with an eight lane freeway leading to the site. Tens of thousands of people (including me) go to Vegas for Super Bowl anyway for the drinking, gambling, and lap dances! So why not have it there?

Where would you find a neutral location for that? Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico? Nobody would go for that. Nice thought

I wouldn’t be cost effective…A stadium like that would cost more than the new Dallas Cowboy stadium. Besides college football wouldn’t agree to playing its Championship Game there, they are obsessed with their current system (they should have a playoff).

Not a bad idea. But where? I don’t think it would work.

no because most people wait for the super bowl to come to their town for them to go to it and its like a once in a lifetime thing for most people

Sure. Let’s put North Dakota on the map!

But seriously, I don’t think many would go for the idea, purely based on economics. Super Bowls bring in a boatload of profits for the city which happens to host the event, and those in a position to make big-time money from the game would all protest vigorously if a one-time neutral site was chosen. People would no longer get their slice of the pie.

Besides, additional protests would come from those claiming one Super Bowl site would deprive a broader sports audience from witnessing the game firsthand. Those individuals & businesses located closer to the site would be accused of having an unfair advantage.

Others would protest one Super Bowl site would take away something “special” and unique about each game. Each community would add a characteristic “flavor” to their own Super Bowl, which makes it stand out from the rest.

So in theory, you have a good idea, but in practice, given human nature & greed, it would be difficult if not impossible to implement.

Hmm…just wondering. With your reasoning, would you also suggest holding the Olympic games at the same site every four years?
