I am really bad at finding vacation deals. I mean horrible. I have heard from people vacationing from the US to the Dominican Republic for under $1000 for everything, but I can’t find anything under $1500 per person. I am looking to go in decemeber with 1 other person. I am not looking to stay in luxury hotel where I don’t need to leave the hotel. I am looking for something more towards being in an alright hotel in or close to a city, where they have their clubs/ bars and local entertainment. I am in New Jersey. Can anyone find or help me find some good deals from New Jersey/ Philly to Dominican Republic? Thanks!

I’ve found some really good deals but I’m just not familiar enough with the hotels. For example, I can get 2 nights in a luxury room at the Stratosphere for under $100, or I can stay at a higher rated hotel– like Mandalay Bay– at the same price for not quite so luxurious a room. A comfortable room is key more than location. Any suggestions? Or any great promo deals you know of?
